The Business Development - Product Specialist will promote the client's products to specific residential and commercial architects and designers and be responsible for achieving a sales forecast in a select group of market segments. Additionally the Business Development - Product Specialist will be responsible for introducing the client's products and developing projects for their fabricator network to quote on. They will also be responsible for introducing NEW products to the residential and commercial designers in the following market segments to generate new business going forward.
Responsibility WEIGHTING for Market Segments
Minimum 30% of the time promoting products to the Architects and Designers to generate project specifications for the fabricator network to quote on. Focus to be on large commercial and institutional projects with the prominent architectural and design firms in the region.
Minimum 30% of the time promoting products to the large tract home builders and multi story (apartment and condo) builders generating products specifications on large residential projects for the fabricators to quote on. Focus is on developing relationships with the residential designers who work directly for, or are contracted by, the larger builder / developers who are in a position to specify and select products for their residential projects and sub divisions.
Minimum 30% of the time is spent developing relationships with the residential designers who work for the Kitchen and Bath dealers in the region. The client's product focus will be quartz, acrylic solid surface and stainless steel sinks.
Additional Requirements
For the client's quartz and acrylic solid surface lines, this position incorporates merchandising activities to ensure the prominent Kitchen and Bath dealers have current samples, displays and product literature.
For the client's countertops and stainless steel sinks, this position is one of product introduction, branding, development and sales.
Communication with your TM is a key success factor. You will be communicating with your local TM several times per day on project related topics and issues.

Participation in scheduled monthly Sales conference calls with your sales team and National Sales Manager to discuss sales related progress and challenges.

Territory:

NYC/ LI/ NJ

Requirements:

Significant travel in the NYC/ LI/ NJ region is required to establish and grow the client's brand and products.
Willingness to travel periodically beyond your territory to attend sales meetings / trade shows.
Must have own reliable vehicle with a valid driver's license with good driving record.
Physical ability to lift and carry products and materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds.
Must have updated Passport and be able to travel within North America.


Qualifications
College Degree or equivalent experience.
At least two years of demonstrated ability in commercial business development/ sales environment.
Exposure to the solid surface, engineered stone and granite industries, its practices, approaches is advantageous.
Handling objections by taking initiative & finding creative solutions is critical.
Ability to clearly communicate and manage performance is a must.
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with prospect firms' key personnel.
Demonstrate consultative selling skills.
Work independently with minimum supervision.
Work in and adapt to a changing business environment. Identify opportunities for competitive advantage with new and existing products.
Intermediate computing skills.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
